If you could be bothered!
Today I am about to go and play football...
We drew our 1st game of the year 3-3.
Since then, 6 rounds have passed, and we have ben credited with 1 goal since... I ran the line that match, and not only was our player 2 yards off-side when receiving the through-ball, their pants 'keeper made his only good save of the day, swiping the ball off the line where it was cleared... But the ref was adamant. Onside, and crossed the goal line!
Basically we are terrible. We hold teams to a 1-0 lead for half a game, then lose 6-0...
The last 2 weeks we have played the next team above us, and elevated them out of 3rd bottom, only to drop another [auto-censored]e team into the same pace where, you guessed it, we elevated them as well! Same for today. They are one above, but the buck stops here... I feel a ripping yarn Barnstoneworth moment about to happen! (Better tuck away the household breakables before I leave
I'll keep you posted later today as to what unfolded...
Cheers
Brad

Well wodya know! We cracked it for a win! Down the usual 1-0 into the second half, a brace from an unlikely scorer put us in front with 10min. to go... I was playing left midfield and broke clear to knock a ball in front of the striker up the line, but as I made contact with the ball I pulled my left quadricep, and crashed over the line to take no futher part!
Got home and limped to the mantle piece to trash the porcelain :-)

Brad

Good news and bad news all in together. I take it you are referring to soccer ( although I see that the PC want to call it football here too).

Hopefully the quadriceps will heal quickly and if not then it provides plenty of excuse to model whilst resting the injury. :-)

Gday Brian!
Yep soccer... You say the PC but I think they know the following has gotten bigger here and the only reason it was called soccer here and the States for example, is to differentiate from the existing codes with the football name... There is room for the name change to be similar, as you'd know that football in Vic. is Aussie rules and football in NSW is Rugby league... I'm sure you know this though!
cheers
Brad
P.S. By the by I was referring to the 'Ripping Yarns' tale from the Monty Python gang where the downtrodden Barnstoneworth Utd. fan (Michael Palin) comes home from the match each week after another loss only to trash his house each time... Then some old legends come out of retirement and they manage a win, and the crux of the story is that he returns home jubilant for once... And then trashes his house; this time in celebration... :-)

Hi Brad

I dont coach soccer but rugby and touch rugby.

The symptoms you have indicated to me would initally suggest one a potental lack of fitness where performance drops of in the second half where teams up the pace/pressure and the team wanes and second a loss of focus etc at half time. My advice is at half time is that the next team to score will win.

I have analysed soccer, league, hockey etc etc for coaches so my analytic skills are varied.

Just my thoughts without truly seeing the team perform.

Good luck with the injury.

Regards

Sean
