Where's the ref in the lineup then? cos he should be

I'd put which team I support, but the autocensor won't let me

let me think.-- Inexistent foul and free kick (goal by Campbell). (Legal) goal by Giuly - disallowed. Foul committed by Campbell (not noticed by referee). Shall I go on?

Oh yes, [auto-censored]ne Wenger's usual post-match whingeing, Sky News present their usual (fictional) account of the game. Referee? C'mon, the Gooners were played off the pitch..Jim

Ha ha, you mean you can't say [auto-censored]nal on Armorama?

EDIT: Apparently not. Good thing I don't live in Essex, Sussex, or [auto-censored]ing in Austria! Would one's profile be auto-censored too?

Hey Jim, you might get your chance to see Barca slaughter some MLS clubs this summer when they tour the US. They're going to play three matches, I believe all of them against MLS teams. I know for certain that one will be against the New York Red Bulls (horrible name, even worse product tie-in). Even if it's more reserves playing than first-teamers, it should get ugly for the US clubs.
As far as the UCL Final is concerned, the referee was the football equivalent of Ermey's DI in Full Metal Jacket. He was a bad ref, but a fair ref. He was equally worthless to both sides.

That is true - i'd forgotten about that, they signed the deal the other day for the tour.

As to your comments about the referee, I couldn't agree more. A good rehearsal for the REAL Muppets who FIFA will have refereeing in Germany next month...God help Football Fans everywhere..Jim :-)

Being one of those dumb yanks, what is that Championship? I am only familiar with the World Cup but I don't think that's the one. Sounds like a big deal since there are so many opinions. I need to learn about such matters!

Alan, the Champions League is the 'prestige' of European football, with the top 2 finishing teams (I think) from each of the first division leagues all across Europe playing a group stage then knockout all the way to the final... It seems to run for about 2 years each year :-) You could have a team from a relatively unknown European nation qualify, and could be in a group containing Man Utd, AC Milan, Barcelona etc. and with a little luck they emerge from the group stages in maybe second spot with a couple of unlikely results, and basically are earning relatively squazillions for their club whilst doing so...
The teams that qualified have a scheduled match day fitting in and around their existing league season, assigned to the Champions League. It is also known as the European Cup... There is also the UEFA Cup which teams finishing 3rd and 4th qualify for...
So basically as there is only a minor premier in these national leagues (No finals; if you finish top, you win) teams often strive to "play in Europe" meaning they have a shot at a coveted top four spot, even if first is out of reach...Kind of the 'best of the rest'...
Bottom line is~ $$$$$$$$$ for your club for qualifying, magnified the further you go!! Sorry for banging on, but that's it inside (and outside and all around) a nutshell...
Cheers
Brad
P.S. Think World Cup, but for Europe alone...

EDIT: Travelled to the States 4 times, and have met nothing but switched on intelligent people... Luck? hehe

Jimrae,
Here's a wee fact for you Jim, I'm an "ARAB" Dundee United fan to those not in the know. United have played the mighty "Barca" four times in Europe, and they've yet to beat us :-) :-)
Cheers Richardmci.
