Hey all......

In the market for a new airbrush......

I am down to 3 choices......
In no particular order........

1. Badger 200
2. Badger 150 (Ideally really like the 175.....just not the price)
3. Testors Aztek 4709

I am more familiar with Badger stuff.....although I do have an el cheapo Testors one that comes with the canned air....but its only good for doing large areas...and no good for detail work.....my workhorse now is a Badger 350.

Now I like the idea of a dbl action brush....but have been told that it is a steep learning curve, with the air and paint flow on the same control, and with the Badger 200, able to get the same quality of work out of it....but in a single action brush....just have to manually set the needle for what you want....would seem easier....not to mention cheaper to go with the 200.

Just looking for some opinions, as to what you think...and maybe what you guys are using.

I have seen the Paache brushes....but have no experiance with them.....have just seen them in the box....to me look similar to Badger stuff.

Thanks!!

I only have experience with the Aztek 4709. I love it. Easy to clean and change spray widths (tips). Also, it can be easily changed from a double action to single action and vice versa with a turn of a knob.

Anybody seen the new metal-body Aztek? Is that the only difference?

Hi.. I spent the last year working with the Aztek single and double action airbrushs and it was a valuable learning exp. but 2 months ago I broke down and got the Badger Cresendo 175 and I havn't touched an Aztek since..

The 175 is the best Airbrush i've ever used.. the feel and balance is great and its no harder to clean than the Aztek, as long as you take care of it. with 3 needle sizes it seems to be a very versible tool .. And it works great too even for a newbie to AB like me.

I would stay away from double action because of the learning curve. You can quickly learn to use it like a single action and then learn slowly while getting use out of it.
If price (as mentioned) is the concern then you have me there.
I use a Badger 175 and LOVE it, it is great. I have had it for almost 5 years and it's still going strong, only had to replace one needle.
If you can wait and scrounge money a bit longer I'd splerge and go 175. You wont be in a position of buying a double action in two years. Just my humble opinion and it's your money so please so what you're comfortable with.

The badger in whatever model you get will be rock solid.
