Thanks, John. When I first saw it, I honestly thought it was some sort of surprise birthday present she was trying to feel. I didn't know such historical scenes existed as figures on market.

Then your answer made perfect sense.

I guess if one was at the show and saw the sword or the axe of the executioner, one can understand the setting immediately.

They don't. This is a one off sculpting/painting by Alan and Marion Ball. Alan has done a lot of work for Michael Roberts Miniatures, Der Brunte Rock and others. His wife, Marion, often paints the cover art for his projects.
