Hi all,
A while ago I saw in the History Channel the story of a german WWII ace that was badly wounded (burned body, face, etc) that survived the war and joined the Bundesluftwaffe in 1955, and finally becoming a high ranking officer even serving Nato. If my memory doenīt fail, he was in the ceremony in the 80īs with President Reagan and an ex-RAF or USAAF pilot.
If you can get me some info about him (name) and some links to learn more about him, it will be great and much appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
Cheers to all

I believe you are referring to Johnannes "Macki" Steinhoff.
You can read an interview with him here
