Hey Everybody,
Was wondering if it's my computer or ?, but when I come back to the board the folders that should change color don't.
New posts since last visit are red and any new posts from posts already on the board change from yellow to red, but I've been here several times over the last couple of days and the folders are red from two and three days ago even though there aren't any new posts.
Anyone having the same thing happen or can give me an explanation for this happening?
Thanks,
Joe

Yup, same here. I think it has to do with Jim still changing stuff on the servers. We were back to modelgeek.com yesterday for a while. I'm sure it will clear up soon.

Hello All,
Still having this happen, even though it's been about a week or more.
Is this still happening to anyone/everyone else?

Hi Jim,
Actually delete the cookies about once a week along with the temporary internet files.
Did this the other day and still no change.
Will delete cookies again, if this doesn't help, is there any other suggestion you can make that may help?
Thanks,
Joe

Hmm....well perhaps this is a case of mistaken impressions. This is how that function works.
Let's say a user has NEVER been to the site before (no cookies). When they visit the forum (and I am talking the actual forum here not the latest posts page or other pages on the site) a cookie is set with a datatime of their visit. They will see absolutely no special display of folders during this visit. If they leave the site and come back in 2 or 3 minutes and many posts have been made, THEY WILL STILL SEE NO CHANGE (sorry not yelling here) as the TIME level for seeing a change has not been met.
If they leave the site and come back 10 minutes (or so) later then they WILL see topics that have new posts since the last time the cookie was set.
That is all. The effect is limited to that and only that.
So if you delete all your cookies (and your system is allowing this cookie to be set) then when you return to the site you should see no change, then 10 minutes later you will (assuming there has been a post).
Bottom line... if you go to your armorama cookie and right-click open with Wordpad you should see something like this...

If you don't see this... there is a problem with writing the data to your PC.

Hey Jim,
I never had any trouble with seeing the new posts in the past, even if I left and came back in 5 or 10 minutes.
Now it's showing posts that have been inactive for a week or so.
I deleted my cookies and came back to the site and still no change.
Can you advise me on how to access my Armorama cookie(s)? Sorry, but I'm not computer literate
Thanks,
Joe

Joe,
Well I just saw this behaviour over on modelgeek after I had removed all my cookies and logged in fresh... so there is definately a "code-reason" why this is happening.
I will take a closer look at this tonight.
Thanks,
Jim

I think I fixed this. Let me know if you still see the problem. Btw...the reason that more people weren't reporting this issue is that the function that sets the cookie was *working* on the Latest Posts page, but not the rest of the forum. So people who use the LP page were seeing the folder colors and checkmarks update.

Zaidi,
That will not be staying that way for long. Just a left-over issue to fix/code.
Thanks,
Jim
