this is the first time i tried to make my own metal parts. it iis the first time trying but it took 4 attemts to get it right. once you figure out the process it is very simple, and it does not take alot of time.

these hinges were drawn on turbo cad.

Very nice Pavel! Does it get you hooked to make more intricate ones now you've mastered those?
Cheers

it sure does, the process is very simple just drawing the designs on the program is time consuming. it takes few takes to figure out which must be black on oneside (half etching) and which must be black on both sides (etching all the way through the metal). i must say that the results are impressive if you have some patience to mess with it.

i will try some instrumental panels for aircraft and other ideas i was thinking about.

this design i made just for the shed that is included in my Do 335 dio.

the nice thing about the program i am using is that you can scale it, so all you have to do is one drawing and than resize it for what ever use.

Hi Pavel,

Very good for you...I myself would like to do PE. How did you put/transfer the design to the brass/copper plate?

Thanks

i used the Micromark set. it provides a clear sheet you print the design on. than you insert brass sheet between the two designs (brass sheet must be covered in photoresist).
all this works with an inkjet printer set on photo quality printing.

TO BUY THE ENTIRE SETUP IS ABOUT $150, BUT AFTER YOU PRACTISE IT GETS CHEEPER AS YOU GO. I DID NOT LOOK AT IT AS CHEEP OR EXPANSIVE, I WANTED TO MAKE DETAILS THAT ARE NOT ON THE MARKET. SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO DO FEW DETAILS RATHER THAN THE FULL 9 YARDS.

SO I GUES IT DOES WHAT YOU WANT IT TO.

parts are "cut" by dipping metal into feric chloride solution. ths is a hand tool free way of getting parts out of metal.
