Here is another project I'm working on, Revells boxing of, what I think, is Dragons 1/48 Me 163 Komet, with the Aires detail set. This is a "special project" and I don't want to give too much away.
The detail set is nice although it took some time to get it in the fuselage. I have opened one gun bay and the ammunition bay. There has been a bit of filling and sanding to do, especially around the nose cone and tail assembly. As you can see I have given it a coat of primer, in fact this is the second coat. This second coat was sprayed mainly over the nose cone and tail assembly joints to check if the sanding had been successful. You can see that it wasn't 100% and there is more sanding to be done. I minimised the amount of sanding by taping close to the joints, filling, removing the tape then wiping off most of the excess wit acetone.

What is going on, Mal's working on two kits, Rowans nearly finished a kit, whats next, me getting votes for my Messerspit :-) :-) :-)
A "special project", now this sounds intriguing.
Did you take any pic's of the cockpit before you closed it up ? Other than a bit more sanding, it is coming along well Mal.

Nice one Mal, its coming along nicely.
How did you do the masking for that, as going around the fuselage can sometimes be a right pain?

Looking good Mal.
I think I know how you masked the black line but I'll keep it to myself and see how you did it.
Very impressed with the airbrush work on the mottle.
Thats how its done is it?

Well the black noseband was pretty damn difficult, as the compound curvature on the nose is pretty extreme. I actually attempted it a dozen times or more and almost gave up but the alternative was the kit decal, which is a monster compared to the line I eventually masked.
Naaaa..........................who am I kidding I masked it first time with my eezee peezee masking kit :-) It wasn't easy but just required a bit of care and perseverance. The white had been masked and painted the masking for that was hard enough. I cut a sliver of Tamiya tape, using 2 number 11 scalpel blades taped together. This gives you less than a millimetre width of tape with parallel sides. I then eyeballed this around the nose keeping the same distance from the previous masking. It was difficult to see on the white nose but I did a section at a time double checking as I went, lifting and re-applying when necessary. When it was on I added more tape in front to mask off the forward end of the nose. I had to be careful around the generator prop and masked this with wet tissue. I did try laying a thin piece of tape down first, where the black band was to go, then I would have butted the masking piece to that, then removed it, leaving the area to be black. This is usually an easier method but the tape kept pulling away from the first piece of tape as I went around the nose and it was impossible to tell if it was on correctly. This was due to the white paint I guess. You can see that the band is not perfect, but that’s OK I bet it wasn’t perfect in real life and I ain’t redoing it. It is pretty uniform though and I'm pleased with it

So thats how you did it
I was guessing you had used a compass to cut a circular piece of masking tape which would have fitted nicely around the compound curve.
Looks great however you acomplished it Mal,and I still like the mottle
