Hi All , if you are like me , when you have enjoyed a bottle of wine , you wonder what to do with the cork , other than use it to make a safety guards for those nasty pointy knives and scribers . But how about cutting it into thin slices and making your own bircks or stone wall sections or even cobble stones . It takes paint and can be glue with PVA or super glue . Give recycling a new name cheers ian

Ian, this has been well covered by BlockHaus here in the forums. Also, cork from wine-bottles is effectively useless, the only thing that works for bricks, is sheet cork...

By the time you,ve carved up a wine cork into brick or cobblestone sized pieces you may need to open another bottle of wine :-) I couldn't find sheet cork for sale bur did find a cheap cork notice board that did the trick.

Hmm, have you tried a good Artist's Supply Store? I have just (finally) tracked down sheet cork which is like thin card. A square metre of it only cost me two Euros...Jim

I've been looking in Home decor stores, I thought maybe it's just not popular here. I'm in and out of art supply stores all the time as I teach art and have never seen Cork sheets for sale, what is it sold for? I'll have to pay closer attention the next time I go shopping for materials?

found a place selling cork sheet - a good old fashioned ironmongors, that also does a few models. I wonder if it's for railways........a railway model shop might do it

Hey, you guys want cork I'm swimming in it. Staples, Michaels, Home Depot arts & craft stores etc.
Sheet cork 1/16th thick x 24" x 12" area wise.
3/16ths x 1 half ft. square, 1 ft. square, etc.
Only 2 - 3 dollars U.S.
I'll send it to you guys, don't know what shipping would be, but it's cork, not lead cork.
We'll work out some kind of barter arrangement.
Wenches for cork ?
Nah how about , ah never mind we'll figure something out.

Oh and Sandy it's a sin here to carve up a good wine stopper, we usually use them to slingshot cats with.
I'm not against cats but I also don't let my 115 pound Lab out at night to sh* t and p*ss in my neighbors, kids sandox either.
It's a nice humane way to let the critters know that I'm being politically correct, my dog just thinks they are more food.

Hobby lobby has them in sheets and rolls while you are there there is a product called "fun foam" that you can do some neat things with -it is heat formable -I use a heat gun and it holds the shape - takes acrylic well too!

Ikea sells a pack of coasters called DUGA - they are perfect. Very smallgrained cork and they are the perfect thickness for 1/35 bricks - just score with a stanely knife.
