Ooops - I have used my finger to smooth it out....
If you want to be safe buy gloves - DIY stores have them in the paint section.

Well, it's not raining Lobsters here in the Heartland. . .
at least not yet. . . but if those were Maine Lobsters
I'd bring along a big basket. . .

About that Squadron white putty. . . Like Lobster
man, I never have had any problem with it. My feeling
is that the warning is more on the caution side than
necessary. I think it means avoid prolonged contact
with that putty.

IMHO, however the putties that come in a tube that
you apply directly right out of the tube are not worth the
trouble. I used them for years, back 20 yrs. ago. But
once I got my hands on a two part good apoxy putty
such as ApoxieSculpt from the Aves Studios in Wisc.
I never wasted my time with those tube putties.
ApoxieSculpt, does not shrink, either.

But that is just an opinion you understand,
Emeritus

Btw, is it that stuff again that can "cause birth defects and other reproductive harm" only in the state of California? :-)

IMO anything that smells as stong as White putty can't be good for you. If you ignore the dont contact skin warning - please heed the use in ventilated space one!

Otherwise it will be raining lobsters :-)

You maybe get away with the occasional use, you not getting covered in the stuff, But I think prelonged use and skin contact could cause damage, especially if you are suseptible to skin problems like dermetitus or exema.

(Please forgive my terrible spelling)

Obviously, they put those warnings on there for a reason and an occasional small exposure will most likely not be harmful. That said, putties of some sort tend to be used frequently by most of us. It would be wise to invest in a set of small spatulas or some type of suitable applicator that can be reused.
The set that Squadron sells is a inexpensive solution and if you're creative with a grinder you can adjust the tips to reach those small "hard to get to" places. And since they're metal you can clean them easily with lacquer thinner. Dental tools can also be handy for applying putty.
Good luck,
Gary

Just a suggestion, but go to a body supply shop and get some of 3M's accryl-green. It is extremely fine body putty that sands smooth as glass. You can get a tube twice the size for the same price as squadron's, and I find it fills better and sands better. You can even wet sand it if you like.

I use flat or round toothpicks for putty application, depending on the size of the gap, etc. I am trying to fill. I have also thinned it with liquid glue. You do not want to get that mixture on you fingers. Such nice prints all over the pretty plastic!

The reason you're not supposed to have skin contact is that the putty is solvent based.
Prolonged exposure ....etc.
Could cause skin irritation...etc.
Again, use common sense when using items like this....certainly it probably won't cause any problems if you use your finger to spread the stuff...but there are tools made for that purpose.
