Living in Ottawa I was wondering if there are any trustworthy online stores in Canada. I am afraid of all the tariffs when shipping from us or abroad. Is it cheaper to buy goods directly from Canada please let me know the best places to shop online for us taxed to death Canadians.

Waterlily:
Here are a few that I have found. I have done business with Modellers choice and Keiths Hobby Shop. Both have great service. Check em out

I have within the last 1.5 months made a huge purchase from luckmodel in asia. Luckymodel put a low cost invoice in the parcel so they wont charge the heck out of me. I will let u know if the tariff boys get me.

Hi Thomas,
Welcome to the big A.(A little late but hey, better late than never :-) )
As for ordering from over seas I do it quite often. It is a hit or miss game with customs.Anything from the US or EU I get hit about 90% of the time. They all go through Windsor.Anything from Asia I'm about the 40% mark for getting nailed.Asia comes through Van. and they seem to slide a bit more here.
The biggest thing to remember is if your looking at something from outside Can. just add on a bit for customs onto the price. Then make your choice if it will still comeout cheaper.Like Francois said Lucky will drop the price on the bill so if you do get hit it is for alot less.

You could always try Udisco. It's located in Montreal, I think.
I've never ordered from them, but they are close to you, so shipping should be pretty good. Really haven't compared their prices either.

(Doug fixed the link for you.

One of the best places to shop online I have found is Hobby Easy from Hong Kong. Thay mark my items as a commercial sample and I haven't been hit by customs yet.
I just got the Trumpeter Chinook kit for 69 dollars and change from them plus 18.32 surface shipping and I got the kit in a little less than a month.
I use them all the time now, just can't beat their prices usually around half of what I'd pay for a kit here.
