This is the Japanese battleship Kirishima in 1/700 scale, kindly donated by Blade48mrd ( Mike Durr ), which is my entry for the dreadnoughts campaign. Thought i would post here as Nige mentioned i was building a boat thing :-), and i should be able to bring it to the Hinckley show ( i do believe it will be the first ship on the stand :-) ).
This is the first floaty thing i have built and to tell the truth i didn't have a clue what i was doing :-) , it didn't help with the instructions being in Japanese either. it took me a while to get into the project as i couldn't find a lot of colour photos of the ship, but once i started it was full speed ahead and i even tried my hand at a bit of rigging ( i bow done to all who rig those sailing things ).
My attempt probably isn't accurate or very good but i am quite happy with the end project.
Comments good or bad are welcome.

Blimey mate.
The way you were talking on msn I didnt think youd even started this, and here it is finished!!!
I like the sea base.Did you do that yourself? Ship looks great as well,,I guess,,cause I know slightly less than absolutely nothing about them.Only thing I can see is that it needs more rigging
I thought you were slightly mad for doing this, and then I saw the vacform your doing for Duel In The Sky!
Now I know you are completely insane :-)

if thats your first ship, you are a natural! the overhead view looks really nice, good job on the water. i'm in the middle of building the ark royal for the flattops campaign, and i'm using an absolutly teeny p/e set and it will have lots of rigging :-)-><

i built the teeny airfix victory some years ago with no rigging whatsoever, even i would hesitate to tackle one of the big scale sailing ships

Thanks Guys, i am quite pleased with my first attempt at a floaty thing and my Beloved has now bought me the German Prinz Eugen 1/700 Tamiya kit, she must like seeing me in pain :-) .
The base was built using BrandydogUK excellent feature on Armorama MSN UK
Nige, I'll let you buy the HMS Victory as i know how much you like rigging :-) .
Phil, how small is the P.E exactly and do you need to know about ships to use it ( asking, as I'm thinking of getting a set for above named model ).

andy-the p/e is from white ensign models, and if you are new to ships like i am, you really need to study the instructions very carefully as there is no stick part A to part B, they use the parts real names and some parts are optional depending on what you model the ship doing, flying or non flying in my case. intimidating though this set seemed, once i began to get a feel for it it was no more tricky than aircraft p/e. i also cheated by finding some pics of ark royal kits built with this set added on so i could see what it is supposed to look like finished!
