A thread for all our , erm, 'special' work, that clearly isn't up to the standard of most modellers here....
my pics are an in progress for my first ever diorama, virtually nothing is finished, but i thought i'd break my posting piccies duck.
like i said, virtually everything needs more work, those are my first ever painted figures, found that really tough going!
ok, lets have everyone elses duff work, no good pics please!

there are millions of seam lines i should have sanded out, and the tank is way over weathered, but it was my first time using mig pigments so i was experimenting with them.
it did use up the tamiya king tiger though, and those mini art houses are a pain in the rear engine deck but look ok when built.
i'll keep adding to the dio inbetween my 'other' build of the BR52 and K5 railway gun, i'm currently wondering how on earth to display it!

pretty sweet, the decals look nicely 'melted' to the hull, i'm always impressed with aircraft models, as they need to be so much neater and cleaner than AFV's, it's much harder to hide errors.
i'll post the one (naff) plane i ever made when i get some pics.

you think?
it's just some crushed up aborted attempts at the road (i made individual bricks for the road originally, but it looked naff so i broke that base up to use as rubble, the road is now just cheap polyfilla with bricks scratched into it), there's some random bits of balsa wood in there too.
i made a few bricks out of milliput, but they were so mishapen i decided to just throw them in and wonder if anyone would ever correctly identify them as bricks! :-)

Hi all.
Adam,
While Im not really an armour fan I can appreciate all the work and research thats gone into that diorama and its looking pretty good so far.Looking forward to seeing it finished.
I build aircraft but I do drop into the diorama and armour forums now and again to see whats going on.
Gareth,
That Spit looks sweet! Have you seen the 70th Anniversary Spitfire MOM in the aircraft forum?
Still a few days to post your pics,,hint hint
Come along and join us in the Aircraft forum and lets see some more of your work.We dont bite,,, :-)
Nige
Seeing as I definately fall into the novice catagory I'll stick a photo on here as well to join in the fun.
Heres my Academy FW190 D in 1/72. The 6th plane Ive built after a break of over 20 years from modelling.
Did you know there is a model show at HInckley on the 23rd April?

Hi guys.
Yep,,its 1/72.Academy.Great kit but the decals silvered despite Klear etc!
Its is airbrushed free hand with Humbrol enamels
It was the first time Id tried anything like that and turned out okish.Next time I will let a bit more of the underside colour show through on the sides.
Great fun though

Mines 1/48 Spitfire F22
Airbrushed with tamiya acrylics. It was s'posed to be my first attempt at preshading but I think i was a bit heavy after I blackened the panel lines, once I'd glossed it for decals all the shading disapeared

yeah that preshading lark is a bit tricky.
Im thinking that just when you think it needs a bit more paint over it is the time to stop
its all down to practice and personal preference though.
Ive just finished a plane where the peshading shows up only depending on the light and the angle you look at it,,so im guessing i got that about right

Lets have a look
Nige.

Working on the Tamiya P47 at the moment.Ive started a progress thread in the aircraft forum if you want a look.

still needs weathering, all the exterior detail painting, etc.
my first and only aircraft 'attempt' so far, though i have the P47, harrier, gekko, and more to build in the stash.
it's finding the space to display the 1/48 models...

Hey Nige don't you just hate it when your fishing line gets tangled up in things :-) :-) .
Adam, the Dornier looks good as does the dio. The rubble looks very effective and i do like the look of the Tiger. The only thing on the Tiger that looks a bit out is the rust, it does look a little bright.
