Today I passed my category C + E (articulated truck/ semi ) driving test so I'm soon to be let loose on an unsuspecting public with a rather large truck.

Congrats Peter. My Yank Dad drove trucks for twenty years, both before and after WWII. Even he thought twice about trying to drive in the UK though. Those roads of yours are far too narrow for our big American shoulders.

Congratulations Peter, it's good to see somebody joining our ranks, despite the long hours, low pay and general derision from the general public... Don't forget to check in your social live at the door.. .
Seriously though, what kind of work are you going for? Trunking, agengy or tramping?

At the moment I'll be delivering furniture to shops around the place then when I get more experienced on to a bit of night trunking.

I think its the other drivers that you need to look out for. The last time I was there, everyone, and I mean everyone, was driving on the wrong side of the road... :-) :-)

What I gather from the preceeding posts is that 1) Congrats Sir!!, 2) If Peter is on the road, stay off the sidewalks (or better yet, stay INSIDE), 3) hell, neither the sidewalks, roads, NOR first level of a building are safe, 4) If you are expecting a furniture delivery, expect replacements...sorta soon, 5) hehehehehhe Got MY CDL-B.
