hey

this is my 3rd attempt at scratchbuilding a flag
#1 nazi flag made from teabag
#2 russian flag made from "toothpaste tube" metal
#3 russian flad made from material cotton i think.
pole was made from copper wire painted black,attachments on back of flag ar copper wire put in a vise and flattened

Matt,

The best material for flags is Rolled thin epoxy putty or lead foil. In scale you cannot see the weave or the warp of the fabrics.

I tend to agree with Matt about the epoxy or lead foil for flag material. However..............if you were making a tattered or ripped flag.......well, then the cotton or tea bag would look great too. If your trying to keep the material cloth, what about silk or some really thin nylon from an old pair of gym pants or such?? Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

I think it is a good try, but the symbol must always be next to the mast, on both sides that is!

That falg looks way too textured.
Try printing the flag you want using your printer's highest resolution onto plain white paper. You can use your photo editor to make the front and back and palce them back to back. Use thinned white glue to hold the halves together. the moisture will softenthe paper and allow you to set folds and furls in place. When dry, the flag will hold its shape.
