Would someone please recommend a good online shop in the U.S.? I've only recently returned to modeling and have placed two orders with Hobbylinc, but they take something like four days just to process my credit card payment, and another two or three to pull the order from the warehouse. I'm used to ordering computer components online from a supplier that nearly always has the order in my hands within two or three days.

Depends what you are specifically are looking for, but for most general items I would concure with Great Models Webstore. If you are seeking something more difficult to find items let us know...

Hello Mick:

And welcome to the Big A, mate. Hey Mike is a Stillhawk
anything like a Jayhawk? We may be distant cousins?
:-) :-)

You knowd ah is jusssss kiddin' eh? But I'm shocked
that no one has mentioned Squadron Shop in
Carrollton (sp) Texas. In biz for over 36 years. I feel
they're a company I can trust and get great service from
them since 1967 for me personally. However, I call on
the phone and talk to an actual person each time.
And since I live in Kansas City, I usually get my order in
three to four days. Once a small piece of a resin part
was broken in shipment. I called them and they sent a
replacement set, didn't charge me even postage and
said keep the other resin detail set — only one part of
it was damaged. I get a multipaged flyer from them
once a month. . . . and no I don't work for them either

I also swear by Squadron (http://www.squadron.com). Usually have my items in a week. Only use Great Models if you don't mind having stuff sent weeks later or being told "in stock" items are not in stock and have to be ordered.

Ordered on Friday 3-17, package arrived on Monday 3-20.

I picked up a bunch of ADV figures for 5 and 6 dollars each, on clearance, along with a bunch of Humbols at .75 a tin.

Squadron is by far the quickest and once you buy, they send you a sales flyer every month that usually has at least a couple of really great deals.Great models is good too.R&J Products has been very good to me for a long time now.Military hobbies in Canada has great deals when the USD is weaker.Hobby Easy has amazing sales and service(site Sponsor!).
Welcome back to the hobby and the Big A!
Cheers!

i generally order from Squadron or Hobby Link Japan, unless i am ordering something from a specific manufacturer.

while Hobby Link Japan is not in the states, they offer excellent deals on asian produced kits, and they tend to ship for reasonable prices in a reasonable amount of time. that said, i haven't actually ordered anything from them in about 3.5 years since i was living abroad and taking a break from the hobby for that time, so the situation may have changed a bit.

If you are looking for speedy turn-around time, Sprue Brothers is the fastest I've ever experienced. I've ordered in the morning, and recieved notice of shipping that afternoon.

Michael, Welcome to Armorama.

I'm not going to stray far from the path here and recommend both Squadron and Great Models.

As people have stated be very careful when ordering from GMW that an item says "In Stock", if it's not you can be in for a long wait.

Cheers

I'm going to second Sprue Brothers. The prices are right, service excellent. And I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly on shipping speed. I placed an order around 4pm EST today and had a UPS Tracking # in my email by the time I got home about an hour or so later.

And the shipping prices are extremely reasonable as well. It's an added bonus that orders over $100 get 50% shipping, free after $200.

Yes, Gordon at Sprue Brother's also gives excellent service. All good suggestions for reliable ordering.
Just remember to check for the "In Stock" part when ordering, and hopefully an active shopping cart, that will tell you right up front if it's in stock when added. Some do, some don't.
