Hello all!

I have been lurking about for the last couple weeks and I would like to thank everyone. I used to model a bit years ago. I have an old Abrams model in the closet that keeps looking at me and I decided that I would really enjoy getting back into it. I ordered everything I would need yesterday, now I just have to wait.

I am currently planning on sharpening my skills and experimenting with the abrams and get serious with a Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf J from Tamiya with some detail kits just for fun.

My main interests lie in WWII armor and aircraft, but I also enjoy the modern stuff too.

I currently live in Hutchinson, MN, have a wife and 3 kids and work as a physician.

I am getting anxious for my stuff!

Hello Brian. Good to see a fellow Minnesotan in the mix!

I live up in Bovey, by Grand Rapids. One thing you may want to consider is joining one of the two larger clubs in Minnesota...the local IPMS chapter "Twin Cities Aero historians" who concentrate on...well, mainly aircraft. Sad little boys! :-)

They can be found here if you really want to find them! (nothing bu love guys!...)

To be honest, they also do a heck of a job in hosting the Nordicon Show every year, so they are much appreciated...just have to rib them when I can.

The other, far more awesome club in Minnesota is the Minnesota Military Figure Society, of which I am a member. The name is misleading as we are actually more of a "all-inclusive" model club that started out WAAAYYY back with guys who did wargaming with lead soldiers. Anyhow, you can find THIS awesome club here . I am the webmaster for the site, whatever good that does me or them.

Hope you catch the modelling bug and join up with at least one club.

Hutchinson is too far for me to travel, but best of luck on their first show. I will send off notice to my club members.

Hello Doctor . . . Hey Brian:

Welcome to the Big A from another neighbor in the
American Heartland. This is a great site, that I need
each morning along w/ my coffee and tea.

You're not too far from Kansas City.
And I hope you're planning on bringing
your family to the '06 IPMS Nat'l. Convention
here in my fair city the first week of
August. In Oklahoma, Rogers and Hammerstein
said that "Everything is up to date in . . . well you get
the idea.

Brian,

My MN geography sux outside of the Cities. No clue where Hutchinson is. But, don't let the TCAH airplane tag get you down. I belonged to that group when I lived there. There are a couple of fantastic ship builders in their midst. Several SERIOUS historians to boot. Armor, I can't recall as much. The IPMS bunch down in Rochester are a fine bunch also, their meeting attracts people from as far away as Albert Lee on a weeknight!

TCAH usually has a caravan down to the KC show every year too.
