I am looking to buy either the Iwata HP-C or HP-B. Just wanting to see what your guys opinions on these are and if should be leaning toward one or the other for 1/35th armor modeling.
thanks for your opinions,
Sean

I use an HP-B, just a personal preference for the smaller color cup.

Sean,
I would first want to ask you this; would this be your only airbrush? If your answer is yes then I would say go with the HP-C, because it would be better for overall coverage yet it is still good for detail work. Now if you have a good brush you can use for general coverage then I would say go with the HP-B. I have one and love it, it's excellent for fine detail work.
HTH,
Mike

Well, here's some good news and bad news. The bad news is, Iwata no longer produces the HP-C. They stopped in the last year or so. They do, however, make an HP-CS which is essentially the Iwata Revolution.
Not a bad airbrush, but better for overall "Shotgun Coverage" a,d cheaper too.
Now, the good news: You can get an HP-C on EBay very easily. I've bought two (I dropped one the night before NATS last year and snapped off the color cup!!) both for less than $100, and both were more or less like brand new. After 15 years of marraige, the HP-C is better than sex some days. (I said some days....You all in the cheap seats hush up now!).
Anyways, after having started out with a single and double action Paasche, the Iwatas are a snap to clean. The HP-C, in my opinion, is absolutely TOPS for fine detail through broad coverage...a true workhorse!
Good Luck,
James
PS. The BEST place to order a new one, if that's what you decide, is www.dixiearts.com. Can't be beat!

Sean, James is right about the HP-C being discontinued. It has been replaced by the HP-C High Performance. Here is a discription of the difference:
"The NEW High Performance PLUS Iwata airbrushes. The pumped up features include, a dual-purpose cutaway and preset handle; teflon needle packing for solvent-based paints; larger nozzle threads for more secure fit and better centering of nozzle; redesigned tapered gravity feed cups for easy clean up and efficient paint flow; and single-piece auxiliary lever/needle chucking guide assures easy assembly."
Here's a link to the Iwata page at Dixieart. (no "s" James
) Oh and James is right again, Dixieart has the best prices and free shipping on orders over $45.00 (which this most assuredly would be
)

Cheers guys,
Mike

thanks for the responses guys. I currently have a Paasche F series single action external, which I plan to continue to use for general coverage. I also have a Paasche Millenium, but I I will be selling or trading that out for a discounted price or kits.
I am very much aware of dixie. I agree about their prices and the free shipping over 45 is a BIG plus.
