For those who might have missed it, the panel of "experts" on the Military Channel have compiled another 10 "best" list, this time for tanks. So, based on Armor; Mobility; Production Rating; Firepower and Fear Factor, the winners are:

1-T-34
2-Abrams
3-Tiger
4-British WWI
5-Centurion
6-Panzer IV
7-Challenger
8-T54/55
9-Merkava
10-Sherman

Hi, Sounds like a pretty logical pick to me.

Take care, Larry

what I don't get is:

If the Challenger basically has the same firepower as the Abrams, and less casualties ( no one knocked out/ down yet, as opposed to 4 for the abrams ), why is it sooo much lower on the scale ?

I've seen bits and peices of the armor show and I've seen thier version of air power. It's a pretty cools how if you ignore thier silly ratings. Those are Very unscientific.

Cool show though overall.

If I remember correctly, there was a Chally 2 taken out in Iraq... However, it was by another Chally 2... Oops!

Quote from an AS90 (latest British artillery SPG) commander. "Challenger is evil! No matter what you do, no matter what smoke or HE you put down or what evasive tactics you pull, the bugger can see you, follow you and take you out"!

I would say this one is a bit better than the figher one. Question about the Challenger? Isn't it the Challenger II that is so great? Did this say Challenger or Challenger II was one of the 10 best?

Yeah, but their list is a lot better (or perhaps less bad) than their aircraft top 10 ...

Tiger- It was mobil? And how many were produced?

Sherman- What armor? Low muzzle velocity = firepower? And, who exactly feared it.....other than most of the guys who went into battle in one?

Not trying to pick a fight here but, How many Challengers made the daylight run through Bagdad.....twice? If, lets say, 100 Challengers were in combat in Iraq, and 400 Abrams were in combat in Iraq wouldn't it seem logical to say that more Abrams would be lost in combat than Challengers?

While I may not agree with the list it was nice to see tanks on the box.
