Can I get some opinions on what is the best putty to use to fill in seams, depresions, etc.
Since I'm basically a new modeler, I'm not sure which one to use.
I have a tube of the red putty made by Model Masters (?) and I use a toothpick to apply it.
What is a good tool to use to spread the putty also?

I use and like Squadron white putty and use their putty applicator. Which works very well for me.

I use Squadron's green putty, their white putty too. And I have lately been using Bondex plastic wood filler, I like it the best of the three.

Hi,

I mostly use Revell (Germany) Plasto filler. I had a tube of Tamiya putty as well, but it's not available at my current hobbyshop. I also had a tube of ModelMaster putty (here in Europe there's only one variety, grey) but that dried up on me, before I could even use 1/3rd.
I also have a tube of autobody putty (which is a grey-greenish putty) which has a finer structure and is cheaper too. Problem is the color though. I will almost always need primer. The Revell putty is off-white. I use superglue as a filler a lot too, especially when a smooth finish is wanted.
As a putty spreader, I use the Squadron Precision Putty Applicator. Works great for me. For the superglue I use something disposable, like toothpicks.

No problem, I really like it.

Just one comment... I've asked my dentist about some of the stuff she has on the bench (I know I'm crazy.. ) that she is no longer using. One of those is the thing she uses for making fillings (I hope I spelled that right).. it looks exactly like the applicator you mentioned... She was glad to get rid of that useless equipment and I got several sharp thingies I use for modeling...

BTW I can tell you that my figures have remarkably clean teeth...
