Now that I am all finished with my 1/72nd scale Panzer IV J, I'd like to know how you guys would adhere the Panzer IV J hull to the wooden base?
Here's the picture in your head, the wooden base is stained and finished in a satin clear coat. There is a brass name plate centered on the front edge of the base. There will not be any landscaping on the base.
The Panzer IV J will be shown like a museum peice. The turret is already suspended on clear plastic rods, in between the rods I placed a mirror so one can see the underside of the turret floor, that is why the tuuret is suspended.

Any advice would be a big help.

Jody,

you can either screw the model to the base ( from below, but you have to counter sink the screws) or use an epoxy glue. Or even PVA glue, although I'm not sure if that will hold on the laquered base.

BTW, appologies if I have missed this elsewhere, but I'm intrigued why you have a mirror to show the underside of the turretfloor?
Cheers

Jody,I have seen it,and I think you could drill holes inboard of the track edges.
4 holes,back from the front and rear of the track where it contacts the base.2 eahc side

-------------
* *
* *
-------------

Loop a wire or string,up a front hole,thread it between a roadwheel,and its mount,across to the rear,and back into the last hole.tie off under the base,touch where the wire/thread goes through the wood,and Superglue that point
a screw up the bottom would show, and would intrude in the lower hull.
Unless
You can cut it short ...

Why the mirror? It is just like the same theory as if you had a Jet fighter or even a prop plane with very detialed underside. You really don't want anyone to pick it up to look at the underside, so you suspend it over a mirror. In the case of the Jet fighter you could just mount it right on the mirror itself. I hope this helps you understand why I did this.

Sure, I understand that, but why the underside of the turretfloor? Did you detail the turretfloor?

Cheers

I could be wrong, Jody, but I guess you mean the underside of the turret roof.

In any case, show us your master piece when you get round to it.
