This date in history, Feb 16th:

In 1959 Fidel Castro sworn in as prime minister of Cuba.

In what Admiral Nelson was to call, “The most daring act of the age”, in 1804 American Lieutenant Stephen Decatur leads a mission to burn the captured American frigate USS Philadelphia in Tripoli harbor during the war against what was then called the Barbary Pirates.

In 1945 during WWII Bataan in the Philippines is recaptured from the Japanese.

In 1923 Howard Carter unsealed Tut's tomb, leading to theories of a curse and a lot of movies featuring this guy...
