Hi All,

I have a few books on armour modelling and as I am getting interested in aircraft modelling as well, I am wondering what books on aircraft modelling are considered to be good.

In addition to this, what is the most favoured aircraft modelling monthly magazine too.

Many thanks for any advice given.

Mark, as far as books, I bought Scale Aircraft Modelling by Mark Stanton as IMHO it's a great starting point.

Scale Aviation Modeller International (SAMI) and Scale Aircraft Modelling (SAM) are the Magazines I buy at this point SAMI covers the different kits etc. out there nicely, while SAM do excellent profiles on various aircraft.

Airfix are currently doing downloadable pdf's on their Airkraft "Back to Basics" booklets at http://airfix.com/cs/resources/guides.aspx I find them very helpful.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mark,
Can't really help with books about modelling aircraft but as far as magazines go Scale Aviation Modeller International (SAMI) is good, I've taken this mag since issue 1, but Model Airplane International (MAI) is leaps and bounds ahead of it, in terms of quality of articles. SAMI is now mainly reviews, or seems that way, with a few articles which I have all but given up reading, I'm considering giving up on it altogether. MAI on the other hand has news and reviews but where it wins is in the quality of it's articles, particularly the photography. If you click on my banner it will take you to the IPMS Armorama site, on the right is a link to MAI, take a look.

Many thanks for your help.

I remember looking through this magazine when I looked for the ones that Eric suggested.

Hi Mark

I agree with the comments about SAMI/SAM .I would also reccommend Model Aircraft Monthly.I have just taken out a yearly subscription. It has some really good articles on full sized aircraft followed up with kit builds. No reviews just info and modelling.
