I would like to mail some paint/glue over to the hobby club in Afghanistan Has anyone ever mailed that stuff? I would like to know what the best stuff for packing it in the box would be

Also, what the post office expects in the way of markings on the box Would it be easier to mail bottle paint or spray paint?

Thanks

here is some info..

from the FSM October 2005 on sending to troops serving oversea's.

when filling out the customs forms its recommended puting plastic model kits in the contents box. and mark the box as a "gift"

Items like solvent-based enamal paints and some plastic cements and other hazardous materials cannot be sent.

also avoid using the words 'paint', 'paint thinner' or glue on the customs form as these could cause the package to be rejected or returned.

there is a adobe file on FSN at this link of the article..

hope this helps.. Support the troops info

I've sent a couple of packages to a club in Iraq. Mostly models, glue (non-toxic tube and bottled CA), and tools. I packed it with a lot of bubble wrap. They were delivered without damage. The post office requires a return address be on the package but nothing else that I know of. Make sure you fill out the customs form accurately because the military can open and spot check packages.

Here's a link to the USPS site with info for mailing to military personnel: http://hdusps.esecurecare.net/cgi-bin/hdusps.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3897&p_created=1071608237&p_sid=aIWryW_h&p_lva=6322&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD04NCZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9bWlsaXRhcnkgbWFpbCByZXN0cmljdGlvbnM*&p_li=&p_topview=1#packaging

Where at in Iraq? I'm down here and would like to get involved with some other models.
