Do you apply dullcoat after drybrushing? It seems to make it almost invisible?

I usually do a gloss coat for washes then a dull coat to give some bite for drybrushing. After drybrushing and other weathering, I usually apply another dull coat to seal in the pastel chalks and to tone down the drybrushing.

I only use dullcote usually twice on a model AFV
1). To seal & get back a matte finish after using "glosscote " for decal
applications.
2). The very last step to complete & seal my model with an overall matte finish.
- As for figures, I only use it once ( the same reason as above - #2 ).

If you mean how long must paint dry BEFORE dull coating, thet would depend on the paint. Acrylics can be doen pretty quickly, oils would be a couple days. Enamels, probably an hour. Dullcote brand is a laquer and when airbrushed can be handled within minutes. Typically, this is the last step in the process.

I use the Testors flat acrylic coat now As long as the temperature isn't real cold it dries completly flat I tried it once and it didn't darken the paint up at all I sprayed it through the airbrush with no thinning
The airbrush I use for general painting is a Badger250? It's the most basic one you can buy Real simple to clean up This past November I used the flat acrylic on a Sherman I sprayed in the basement It came out glossy However that was due to low temperature
