I’m thinking of setting up a paypal account (also thinking of joining the A-guard ) and was wondering how they worked.

I’ve heard something about them taking money from your credit card and putting it in an account with them until you use it and then taking more money from the card. Is this true and if so how much do they take at a time?
Also is there a fee for using paypal?

See I don’t have a credit card of my own so I use my mothers card when ever I order online and just give her the cash to pay it off on the 1st bill. So I want to find out how this works before I run it across to her.

thanks.

Not quite the way it works. When you set up a basic account, you authorize them to transfer money from your account to a payees account at a charge to the payee. You don't need a credit card, just a checking account. They don't really hold the money, just transfer it electronically.

I never had a fee...... Unless i was the Ebay seller..... The Deposited a few cents into my checking account to Verify that it was mine as a confirmation method.

I agree with Matt. Maybe it's different on the other side of the pond, but the money comes directly out of the checking account (if I use that as a funding source) or gets charged to the credit card, like any other transaction .

On this side of the pond we have the options to have the money drawn directly from the credit card or transfer in advance from a banc account. We don't have the option to have the money drawn directly from an account.

I’ll see about getting it set up before the end of the month.
