On this day in 1962 the United States and the Soviet Union exchanged spies. U2, the plane not the group, pilot Francis Gary Powers was swapped for Soviet colonel Rudolf Abel. I'm showing my age but I think I remember this happening.

In World War II a Japanese submarine bombarded Midway island. They were really fascinated with Midway as this was the fourth time since December 7th they hit the island.

The 7 years war, called the French and Indian wars in the US ended with the Treaty of Paris between Great Britain, France, and Spain.
