Hello from Kanadahar Airfield. I got here about 2 weeks ago and only just found a computer that doesn't block Armorama for "violent images"!
Well what can I say but that it is hot, hot, hot. It's weird eating on the patio in Feb. What's also wierd is those right hand drive Toyotas. So far I've hit the windshield washers about a dozen times instead of the turn signal. Well I should hopefully be home to see my newborn baby in time. Later and happy modelling!

Hi Paul, I think I saw you yesterday on the boardwalk, I wasn't sure and it looked you were on a mission. I'm probably going to be busy for the next few so if I don't see you have a safe trip home

I hope all of you stay low and stay safe.
It's a given that anyone on this forum is bound to know more than the average Canadian about what you all are doing. It also been a given that the Canadian public hasn't wanted to know much at all about military issues, but take heart. Having talked to a bunch of my nonmilitary/nonmodelling friends and family, the general awareness of your mission and of how well you all are doing is growing in Canada. People are paying attention and are liking what they are seeing. You can all be proud of the job you are doing. The rest of Canada is.
Paul

Thanks to everyone for the warm wishes. There must be five or six of us Armorama members over here. Personally, I'm too busy to model build, but let's hope that changes before long.

Just remember the main thing about being in a combat zone; keep you head and butt down low, you don't need another hole in either one!!!!! :-)
I love the February patio in Vancover, too, Jim.

Hi Mike,
Sorry we didn't meet up. If I looked like I was on a mission it was probably to get the hell out after six months! Got home safe anyways. I did manage to meet with JP and diiscuss upcoming releases and projects. doubt you will have much time for modelling. I didn't. Have a safe tour.

Hi Paul, you're right.. no time for modeling. I notice that Trumpeter is looking to release a "Stryker" later this year. Perhaps a LAV3 update set is on your list?

I will be at the Guelph show. Jut stocked up on some elite stuff. The Joint Trackjam/MLM Leopard C1 late version will not be ready, but I have the test shot, which will be assembled and on display. The LAV III conversion will move to the head of the line ahead of the Leopard Dozer and Bison conversions.

Hey, I just heard on this morning's news that a Mike Lowen (Closed Caption spelling off CTV NewsNet) from Edmonton was seriously injured in a IED attack on one of the LAV-III's. God, hope it's not merkava8 Mike, prayers are with you all regardless.

Regardless of whom it is, lets hope he can recover and come home. It's getting more and more dangerous in Afghanistan, and we need to prepare ourselves for the possibility of darker days to come.
Stay safe boys.

JIm,
Here's the link to the Toronto Star article, it writes that M/Cpl. Michael Loewen was one of the injured in the suicide bomber attack.
I've got a bad, very sick feeling about this one.
My thoughts are with all Canadian Troops deployed in Afghanistan.

Reuters News also has images and video of the damaged LAV 3.

Just heard the news.....news of Cdn Forces is kinda scarce (read non-existent) down here. I got that awful empty feeling in the pit of my stomach when I read the TorStar article. Got the notice about Cpl. Davis through the Regimental net, but there was no listing of the injured.
I've added them all to the prayer lists at the local Anglican church, and will be thinking of the troops and especially their families very often.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

I don't think anyone will mind. I just saw Mike's name on the CBC this morning as being the LAV III commander and the most seriously injured. All our prayers.

Jeez, I just saw the CTV clip of the medics loading Mike on the back of the Herc, man I never realized how serious his injuries were. I know the Pats will look after him well, but if there's anything I can do, let me know.

Lt.Trevor Green of the Seaforth Highlanders was critically injured this morning while at a meeting with Tribal Leaders.
He was struck in the head with an axe.
The Troops providing security with him killed on of the attackers. He is/has being airlifted to Germany.
All of our thoughts are with him and his family.
CTV news has a whole bunch of coverage on the attack.
