While cruising the internet recently, I came across this site and started looking around. There is a wealth of knowledge and alot of very talented people here!! I'm planning on trying to get back into modelling after about a 20 year hiatus. Back in the day I built mainly 1/35 Armor, and it is amazing what modellers are accomplishing these days. I wish this amount of knowledge had been available in the good ol' days.
My return happened quite accidently after stopping in the local HobbyTown to kill some time while my wife was shopping. As I was leaving, I noticed a couple of kits on a sale table and the savings were just too good to pass up. I picked up 4 Trumpeter Ti-67's for $5 each, a Trumpeter Type 69 II and an EE-T2 Osorio for $7 each, and an Italieri T55 for $6. I figured what the heck, if worse comes to worse, I at least have a pile of parts to mess around with. I have never built a Trumpeter kit, but I have to admit that I am impressed with the mold quality. It is, in my opinion, better than the old Tamiya kits I built years ago. I am not a fan of their "rubber-band" tracks though...they are awful. I have a couple of sets of the Armour Track Models T55 tracks ordered to see how I like them.
A little more about myself. I spent 7 years as an M1A1 crewman in the MS Army National Guard. I pulled a rotation in Bosnia during 2001-2002 (SFOR 10). I am currently working as the curator of exhibits at our State History Museum.
Anyhow, I just wanted to drop in and say "Hello".

Let me be the first to welcome you to armorama. I am not up on those kits, but for the money you paid sounds like you'll have fun with them. One benefit about joing is all the knowledge and experiene you can gain in a very short while. One thing I like to do before I venture into a new area or genre of tank is to ask what the best ones are. That will help in future purchases. We can also advise you which places to get the best deals on some of the higher cost kits. Again, welcome to the club.

Thanks for the welcome, guys! I am currently working on a Dragon M1A2 that I started years ago. I'm gonna build it as an M1A1, though, since that is what I served on. This is pretty much out of the box, but hopefully it will get the juices flowing again. I got a set of the Armour Track Models T-156 tracks for it, and these things rock!!! It'll also give me a chance to play with the airbrush I got (It's an Aztek, but the price was right). We'll call this project an experiment for now.
