What is a good way to paint waterproof?

I'm getting ready to paint an R/C Boat and want the paint to stay on the boat and not end up as a trail behind the boat after a couple runs.

I'm thinking of painting with normal model paint and then clear coating it a bunch.

Any ideas? Or well mine work?

If the boat is powered with a fuel type of engine, then fuel proof model dope will have to be used(or the newish epoxy paints). If it is electric powered, then your plan should work.

You could buy the polycarbonate paints used for RC Cars. The Tamiya paints should be water and fuel safe. You can gettem in rattle cans or small jars. The polycarbonate paints are slowly moving to water based but the majority are still solvent based.

P.S Btw what R/C boat do you have (just curious)

I'm getting the RTR Hydro Sport Boat

I was going to do it in a nice and "tactical" black, orange, and silver tiger stripe pattern, but can't find a company that will send paint by air. Which is a problem sents I'm in Iraq and for some reason UPS won't drive here

I think this is going to be your main problem.

Unless you can get a waterbased fuel-proof paint or waterproof overcoat, getting it to you will be a problem. None of the spray cans or solvent paints can generally be mailed.
