Greetings,

My late father was a coxwain (drove) on LCVP's in the regular Navy. He landed elements of the 1st Inf. Div. at Omaha on D-Day. Afterwards, he was assigned to the Army and, he much later (like 40 years when he requested his service records)discovered, placed on secret assignment. The assignment was ferrying U.S. Rangers and British Commandos up rivers and, I think he said, even canals.

Since this is a true international forum, I was wondering if anyone knows of any written or personal accounts of any of these missions. There may be a diorama in here somewhere, and on a personal note would just like to learn more about my father's wartime experiences.

Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry!

Ive always liked your dioramas.

Ive heard that a few of fhose drivers were coloured.
Also in a D-day flick on TV, they based some stuff on Robert Capas experiences on D-day. Perhaps you can find something from that?
