Before I took my vacation to Iraq I was working on 2 of the old Tamiya 88 mm anti tank gun kits . One was pretty much OOb the other is a kit that I got thru a bit of sheep trading with our beloved SS-74 ( AKA Dave Tong ) , it had the Eduard PE set and a metal barrel with it . I'm not a big a fan of PE sets but I gave this one a try and I am pretty happy with the results so far . So here are both kits in progress as a bit of a side by side build .

In the red corner is the plain 88 , still a bit up in the air as how I'm going to finish this one up - might try to finish it in tavel mode

This little jewel of a lock was the victim of tewzzer launch twice before I got it glued down

The left side of the gun mount - at first I wasnt too shure about using the flat Pe chainbut I like the way it looks

and the right side of the gun mount and the PE crew shield kinda in progress

Its good to be back at the table and sniffing glue again - thanks for looking

Lord Toad

Ambitious, i.e. two going at once. They look good. PE is not my favorite, (nor is that "neat" Hong Kong Bum :-)

Keep us posted.

Lord Toad,Looks like a good build to date. The PE chains will look fine when they are painted. The paint will give the links a rounder shape.
Trust me.

Carlton,

The "twins" are looking VERY nice!!!

From the pic, the chain does NOT look two dimensional at all. Looks really good. Looking forward to the continued progress, as the 88 is my favored "cannon!" I want one mommy!!!
