Sure!Part of the fun of the hobby,to me. Plus, taking tools from other hobbies/trades etc. and apply to the kits and dios.Locksmith and jewelers files are always on my bench.Dental picks.Artist blending stumps for fig and detail painting boo-boos(clean and freshen these with a sanding sponge block).Emery boards and womens make-up brushes for pastel applications.Heck,I'm still searching the dollar stores for a cheap coffee grinder to make custom ground cover mixes.
In short, the world is your toolbox.Use it liberally
cheers!

Dental picks and emory boards here as well, as well as:

Hemostats that a nurse friend picks up for me. Great for really keeping a tight grip on something without "launching" it into oblivion.

An "indie" track-link jig made by a home remodeling friend of mine, made out of Corean.

A range top exhaust fan over my spray booth, to vent fumes outside.

...sometimes its hard not to see an objects modeling potential, before you figure out what it's really used for.

I've built my own sawing jig. I've compiled 'stuff' to create a scratch magnetic 'holder'. I've 'built' my own painting jig, paint/wash jig, and AC holder, oh and an instruction holder -

The magnetic jig and the paint/wash jig are in 'Gotcha Covered' feature. I'll take pictures of the rest this weekend.

Well, The Jig is Built...... But I think I might do another Larger one. I took a scrap of 3/4" Cabinet grade Plywood and Glued a Magnetic Sheet to it..... With a square and some 6" 4r scales it works pretty slick......
