Sorry if there has been a thread on this recently, I searched but couldn't find anything.

The only books I seem to enjoy are WWII books, so far I have read Band of Brothers, Enemy at the Gate, Flyboys, and the Longest Winter all more than once, and would like to pick up a few new ones. I have Six Armies in Normandy on my shelf but just cant seem to get into it. Do you guys have any favorite WWII books or ones I should look into?

One of my favorites is Stalingrad by Antony Beevor.

Great book. I couldn't put it down.

'Armageddon' by Max Hastings is brilliant.
So is 'Hitler's Willing Executioners'.

No, no, far more than brilliant...

Hastings is a superb author who is (IMHO) far better than Ambrose. Beevor is also worth searching out - perhaps his style is a bit more academic than that of Hastings. Ambrose's work was primarily based on 'oral history' projects based on decades of interviews with Vets. That doesn't say they aren't useful books, but they are less 'exacting' than authors such as Beevor or Hastings...Jim

Anything by Stephen Ambrose. I have read Band of Brothers, Citizen Soldiers, D-Day, The Victors, and Wild blue, all were excellent. I highly recommend any of them.

As several have already said, "Armagedon" is a great read.
One that hasn't been mentioned that is great as well is Rick Atkinson's "An Army at Dawn."

I'd like to thank you all for your input. I will be making a trip to the bookstore this weekend and with any luck I'll have enough books to last me a while. Now the question is, which do I read first

There is definitely an endless list of interesting and enjoyable books about WWII. Several of my favorites are:
Panzerkrieg by McCarthy & Syron
Panzer Battles by Von Mellenthin
Panzer Aces by Kurowski
Tigers in the Mud by Carius

Another book well worth reading is Guderian's memoirs, 'Panzer Leader'.
