Hey guys

I can think of no better place to ask this question but it is way outside the purview of this site. Nevertheless, here is what I would like to do. I want to make a scale model of a particular type of insect i.e. scratch build one. I think the best place I can start is sculpting something with some kind of epoxy putty or something similar. Scale drawings are easy, there is lots of taxonomic literature out there with drawings of the little buggers in exquisite detail so that isn't a problem. And I figure if I can do it in plasitic or something similar (as opposed to sculpting in clay) then I can
used paints and some other techniques I know from the kit modeling end of things. Any ideas would be useful and I know there are enough creative juices here to drowned in so...

Thanks in advance and cheers

You might find something here
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18287 and some of the other SF sitesor you could look up Bill chilstroms posts on http://www.planetfigure.com/ I don't think he's built insects but his armature work would be worth looking at.
What insect is it? I'd like to know what it looks like

Derek,

Thanks for the suggestions!
Have one on me

Pat,

The bug I'm thinking about will be an Ephemeropteran commonly called a mayfly. I'm going to try and make an adult which might be difficult because of the wings. But we'll see.
Here are a couple of websites with info and pictures on these insects
http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthropoda/uniramia/ephemeroptera.html

http://www.ento.csiro.au/education/insects/ephemeroptera.html

And thanks for the links as well. I'll buy you a round as well
