Hi everyone

I'm currently building the Tamiya 37mm towed Flak. Just want to know, typically what vehicles would be used to transport these guns. I dont think They can be too heavy that they would need something such as a FAMO, but who knows. If anyone even has pictures of one being towed that would be great.

Thanks

A Famo can definitely tow a 37 or even an 88, an 155 Haubitzer, but would it be used for this purpose, not very likely. Famo was designed for towing tanks, towing even an 88 will be somewhat an overkill. But who knows, it could happen.

I think you can get a 1500A to tow the 37mm with no problem or a 250 will do the job nicely.

A Kfz 69 Krupp "Protz" truck, SdKfz 10 or 11 would also be suitable prime movers.

I think that if you look again you will see that it is not the 18ton Famo but the 8ton sdkfz 7 towing a flak 88. That is if we are looking at the same picture.

I hope they help...

For towing this FlaK gun the Wehrmacht would have used the
Zugkraftwagen 1t ( semi-tracked vehicle, 1 Ton ) of the Sd Kfz 10 variant's
.......... probably up to the Zgkw 8t Sd Kfz 7 variants.
If you really want to further research this, look into the Kriegsgliederung of German
Panzer Divs.

I am also building the Tamiya 37mm Flak kit. I have built an AFV Club Sdkfz. 11 to tow it. It looks real good so far.

Thanks for the replys guys. Now I at least have a base to begin with. Would it be possible for Sdkfz 250/251 haltracks being used as the vehicle towing it and carying all the ammo ?

Also is there a set for extra ammo crates and ammo clips. Or would anyone have a pic and the dimensions that would enable me to scratchbuild the ammo crates.

Once again thank you for all your help

As for 251 APC Towing - there are pic's I seen of them with the PaK36 & PaK40 in tow.
So it is possible for the 251 to tow 37mm FlaK gun ( But, if your entering this in competition then I would get an offical verification or a proof from a photograph )

For 250/251 as Ammo Carriers - I only know of the Sd Kfz 252 and Sd Kfz 250/6 Ausf A & B leichte Munitionspanzerwagen, which carried ammo for StuG III Ausf A - F - and G
They also towed a Sonder Anhanger 3 1/1 ( Special Trailer ) that carried ammo

A TRAILER WAS ALSO USED TO CARRY AMMO FOR THE 37MM FLAK36.
It was the Sonder Anhanger 57 The Zugkraftwagen 8t ( Sd Kfz 7/2 ) with the mounted 37mm FlaK36 on it's platform towed it's own Sd Anh 57.
I think Tamiya or some other model company made some trailers ( just not sure if there
the Sd Anh 57 ?????????? )

The 205/251 would certainly be capable of pulling the Flak 37, not sure whether it would manage it over rough terrain easily with ammo on board too, as only the tracks were driven, the front wheels were not powered. I think it's extremely likely that it occurred somewhere in the war, but bear in mind that terrain issue if you're placing it in a diorama.

Thanks for the great input everyone. It looks like I have a lot of options here. Would anyone have an answer about the extra ammo crates and clips.

Thanks

Leader, are there ammo boxes/clips in the kit? If there is, why not cast duplicates. There have been several posts in the forums about how to do it, plus the following article in the features section.
