Last weekend, i dissassembled my trusty Gunze double action airbrush to clean it before spraying my Half track flak. ...Then 'poof' , i must have somehow brushed the nozzle (where the paint atomises tip) off my from my workdesk...Ayoyo...and now my airbrush is useless!! , really kena the heart! And you know lah, these sort of tiny thing really bounces and rolls to god knows where.
Hmmm....Now i might have to use my other airbrushes liao (but they are not as good as the double action punya). It is gonna cost me months to save up to buy a replacement.

In the past , i had lost
1) Decal sheets -Diterbangkan angin
2) Instruction sheets - diterbangkan angin
3) Parts of models,eg, canopies...

Lim...sorry to hear about the incident...
so have u carik all over the place.??? perhaps u will find it in one fine day.... so now is there replacements parts for the nozzle?? i used tamiya SF ab and they have replacement for every parts of the ab... i think u better write gunze an email..maybe they will entertain u la...i knew it's hard to leave your precious ab...and to get another one is different story
but if u want to get a new ab, i may suggest get it from rainbow10 in japan... i got mine for rm300++ while local tamiya sell for rm800...

btw, i think u're lucky la coz the thing fall onto the floor..u still got chance to get it back.... even the chances is slim./..
dulu aku pernah lost my nozzle jatuh dalam sinki to the drain.... i even serach the entire longkang for days....tak jumpe

Regret to hear the news Lim. I damaged my airbrush nozzle and needle a few years back but I managed to find the spare parts in Singapore. Otherwise, it would cost me a bomb to replace my antique Badger 150 airbrush.

What a bummer! Do check out Gunze's official website and from there trace where you can order a relacement. You're using the Procon Boy range ? I don't have the website add but you may write to:
Gunze Sangyo Inc
Hobby Dept
3-1 Kudanminami 2-chome
Chiyoda-ku Tokyo 102 Japan
Tel 03 (5211)1805 or Fax 03 (5211)1902
I doubt you'd want to do that so I think you'll be considering buying another. I've written about a/bs and compressors before but I guess everyone has their preferences. Still, I'd like to say it here again. Gunze, Tamiya and other manufacturers dealing mainly in kits and paints are not known for their a/bs and it can be a bother trying to get parts. That's why I go for Aztek or Badger. Not that I consider myself too good for anything less but when I weigh the pros and cons I feel sakit once is better than sakit many times in future. A Taiwan made a/b in Penang cost only RM120 but I was concerned about replacements and might end up spending more on new ones each time something goes wrong. This would be more costly than going direct for the better ones in the first place. In fact the sakit is not much either if you try eBay. I got both mine, a Badger 150 and Aztek A4305 for around RM260 each or slightly more and that included air hose ( braided too for Badger ), accessories in a box and shipping. I'd recommend you go for the Badger 155 Anthem ( new, going for around USD70 on auction though ) or any d/action Aztek and be done with it once and for all. Recond Azteks could be around USD10-USD20. Parts "tai par" and a click on the mouse will get them winging their way to you in about 16 days if you get them from Squadron.com Cheaper than the manufacturer direct, shipping wise.

I've lost smaller parts than this and now I know I'm not the only one. So far my recovery rate is 90% and my place is really messy so don't worry, it might show up one day. Depends on how cluttered your work area is but a sweep with the broom underneath places where it might have rolled into might help.

Hi all,

The bad feeling comes about due to the fact that the whole thing is very mahal, I think it was 180.00 SGD, and is now a non-functioning piece of chrome n metal. Very sad. I shall do a sweep of the floor this weekend n see what happens.Hopefully nobody go and sweep/wash the floor between now n this weekend ..haha..after all , CNY is just around the corner.
Once i lost the canopy of my Me 262, but i found it again after a few weeks..haaha....so tiny thing somemore, onli 1/100th scale punya canopy

Lim..

kesian la lu...

beside sweeping, here's another faster method... get ur self a vacumm cleaner with NEW bag (or use the one without bag also can..) then start vacumming....after u have done vacumming, check the bag...

i try this before and manage to get so many things that i lost since jurassic era.... just make sure the vacumm is clean before u use it

Hi CKLoo,

I use Mr.Airbrush cleaner instead of thinner cap kuda belang. Industrial thinner is bad for the rubber seals/packing seals. You have to watch out for this . If you use industrial thinner, you'll see that the siphon tube (if it is a bottom feed airbrush) will melt away..hahahaha....I tried it once ..Nasib baik i have replacement (by using a fuel tubing from my R/C things)

Agree with Lim. Some airbrushes use rubber-based seals. These seals will either dissolve, swell or harden after prolong chemical exposure. Must be carefull with the solvent used for airbrushing.

Thankfully my trusty Badger uses Telfon seals .

Sorry to hear about your "lost but will be found" tip. I couldn't think of something useful to contribute as I myself hardly ever use my a/b (4 times at the most I can remember).

However, today I thought of something that I always do when after working for 1-2 hours on some scratchbuilt thingy I made only to lose it when you are about to apply it. The last one being a 1/35 spectacles I made and lost meant for my now finished Cassino vignette.

I think the best way is to look at the most unlikely place within a reasonable distance from the scene of the accident. Small things always find their way to places we never dream they can fly too. Start with the most unlikely place and work backwards to the most likeliest. Sweeping may or may not help as the broom may send it flying further. Use one of the handheld portable vacuum cleaners making sure nothing is in the bag of course.

Last resort and this may sound crazy, if its on the floor, search for it at night switch off the lights put on some camo on your face and find the most powerful torchlight you can beg, borrow or steal. No I was kidding about the camo on the face. But if you use a torchlight and have all the lights out and put the torchlight on the floor or close to the floor, the light which should be shinning parallel to the floor will bring out any shadows even the most tinniest of shadows.

Again as with any search at least this is what I learn from search and rescue from my scuba diving, is to search in a circular pattern radiating from the point you last saw your a/b tip. Go clockwise or anticlockwise and work in slow but increasingly larger circles from the point of origin. We also do what is a square search but in your case a circular is best.

Hope that helps and May the Force be with you.

I also know a sure fire way to find any lost things. Just buy a replacement for the lost thing, and sure enuff , the lost item will 'magically' appear !.. I am serious.
Once i lost my sunglasses. I searched high and low for it in the car tapi tak jumpa..Then i went and buy a new pair. Not more than 7 days later, i found the original pair (under the seat !).
I think MH sells my airbrush but i think it is very expensive. They also sell some unbranded a/b as well.
I have a Badger single action a/b. I think the model is 350 but i dun think it has teflon seal ..How come urs comes with teflon seal ?
I think i shall revert to using my Tamiya Sprayworks a/b for the time being.
