I drove hotsots for a year for my dad. Paid good but the 60-70 hour weeks were killer.

Now I am a Designer for a manufacturing firm. But I still have a Class A.

It was a great job. Always a no touch load. Most of the time I never knew what I was hauling. If I had an armed guard on board I knew it was something important. Best part I never had to sleep in the truck. Always had a very nice room at a safe base. Most of our loads were escorted and we were exempt from the scales. We had to carry and maintain logs but we never drove more than 10 hours in any giving day. If we had a long distance to go we always used teams.. But that was rare. Most of our trucks were leased through the GSA Motor pool. Most of the time they were brand new and black, or dark gray. We never had the same truck very long. Always had a brand new one or close to new on every trip. Miss the job a lot. But it is nice to be home and not gone for extended periods of time. I just turned 57 this month and am glad to be forced into early retirement. Now I get to build models and spend a lot of time here and at other modeling sites. Life is good. We used KW's, Petes and a few Freight liners. Most were 10 speeds. But on a few occasions I would get stuck with a 13 spicer. I like the 10 road ranger the best.

Who are you driving for and what type truck?

Do you drive for US Xpress? I went to your website and the Volvo with the Eaton Vorad Collision sensor on the front reminds me of their trucks. I use to drive for them hauling carpet out of their Tunnel Hill Georgia terminal.

I'm the Operations Manager for a large Trash Company here in Cali. I have a Class B but rarely drive any longer. I do oversee a fleet of 60 routes/driverstrucks and make sure they get the job done. Does that count as being in the transportation/trucking business?

Cheers,

Must have missed this before.

I’m no longer but when I was younger my parents had a truck and I would always go with them.

Then as I grew up I was always around the local coal mining operations and spent a lot of time in coal buckets.

I really don’t spend much time in truck anymore but still know a lot of the truckers in the area.
