Me and my Dad are planning to go to East Germany and Poland for a few days at some point this summer, and I was wondering if any of you guys know of some good museums, or other things to see around there. We'd like to see Colditz castle and Auswich, and maybe the Checkpoint Charlie museum in Berlin. Is the Reichstag worth going to? What else is worth a visit?

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

Hard to say what exactly may be interesting for you but first of all visit Cracow. It's really nice old city and you can see there the castle and museum of aviation:

Close to Cracow is Wieliczka with salt mine:

Biggest military museum is in Warsaw - it's Polish Army Museum, with collection from medieval to today. They have also many vehicles, some of them are stored in different location so remember to visit both! Next we have Warsaw Raising Museum http://www.1944.pl/index.php?lang=en&lang_time=1 and less military but also interesting Museum of Railroads.

Hope it helps, if you have any questions just PM me

Piotr

Thanks Piotr, I'll add Krakow to the list of places worth a visit. Warsaw is a bit far from our intended route, so I'll have to give that one a miss.
