CA has always worked for me. The only thing that is difficult is the first application of CA is usually absorbed by the wood. Apply a small amount of CA to the spot and smooth it with something and let it dry. I always use a CA accelerator. After the first application "seals" the porous wood, apply a second time and join the plastic and wood together.

Danny,

5-minute epoxy is all I use any more. I find it soaks into the wood far less and much easier when it comes to however I want to finish it be paint or stain or what have you.

Guys,

thanks for the info so far.

I'm leaning over towards the CA glue.... I'll try to seal the wood with a good sealing fluid I have...I hope that does the trick. I was hoping to be able to follow Patricks's advice (he gave me some good tips before ) with the CA accelerator, but onfortunately that stuff is unavailable over here..... .

Thanks again my friends !

I don't usually use balsa, but rather use basswood for the tighter grain in scale.

Regardless, I glue the wood pieces together with Elmer's White glue. Then I give the wood 2 coats of polyurethane clear satin. Sand lightly between coats. That seals the wood and protects it from stray pen, pencil, paint stains, etc ... If you want to weather the wood, do it before the polyurethane ...

It also provides the seal needed to glue styrene to the wood using CA ...
