Hi guys!

I think this can be a very interesting topic to discuss. Recently a guy came into the hobby shop where I work, and was interested in buying my 1/16 Rommel mode, pics of which can be seen in my gallery.

I told him I could build one for him, but it would take a few weeks, and he said he would really like to have my one. Now, my problem is, what price do I ask the guy?

I know there are a few factors to consider, like time spent, materials used etc. but I'm still sort of in the dark. Please share your thoughts.

Hi Qunitin,

You seem to have all the specifics covered ito time, material, etc. I suppose the big question is how much you charge per hour? I dunno, how much do you think your time is worth? The other thing is whether you should charge for a complete tin/tube/bottle of paint or just the percentage used.

My suggestion is to perhaps PM Arthur, who frequents the figure forum, and ask his advice. He is a professional figure painter by trade. I believe his advice in this situation will be invaluable.

Best of luck with your new endevour. I did the model building thing for clients thing while working at Topflyte Hobbies (about 12 years ago) and felt it wasn't for me... I prefered building the RC cars for clients.... quicker turn-about
