I'm finally going to take the plunge and get a double action AB, and have pretty much decided on an Iwata.

In fact, I was all set to buy the Revolution CR, but have been reading more on the subject and now wonder if I shouldn't "bite the bullet" and move up to an Eclipse CS instead.

The Eclipse CS is at about the most I can afford right now.

I have a Badger 200 that I can use for base coats and primer coats if necessary, so widespread coverage isn't a big issue. And my deep dark modeling secret is German WWII Night Fighter aircraft, which can have some complicated mottle paint schemes.

So, please advise on which brush you would get (and why).

Thanks!

Hi David!
All Iwata AB that i have read for comes with high recomendation!
Even 0.5mm Revolution AB can offer you a very thin spraying.I have seen an Iwata The HI-LINE that has a pressure valve on the body between the nozzle and the colour cup!
This means many posibilities for thin lines and it has 0.2mm nozzle!
Great for demanding paint schemes!
I am thinking on buyibg myself in the near future!

I just bought the Revolution and Ive never used an airbrush at all before. WOW is all I can say. Very nice and I think you would do fine with it. Its cheaper than the Eclipse. Im a big believer in you get what you pay for when it comes to the tools you use. Whatever you do, good luck.

I am jealous of you which ever model you buy as I am still saving hard for an Iwata, trouble is sneaking it past the wife when I only bought my Paasch 7 months ago.

Have fun with whichever you buy.

I use the revolution, I have no problems with it. I seldom use because I have 3 other airbrushes with another on the way. Guess I collect airbrushes as I do kits...lol.

You may like to check out the equipnment review in February '06 issue of TMMI. The very models of Iwata AB that you are interested in are featured there.

Thanks all for the advice.

I decided on the Revolution, and picked one up at my local HL using their 40% of coupon on any one item. That brought the price down to about the same as the online shops, and I got the instant gratification of walking out of the store with it in my hands.

I also had to order an Badger airhose adapter, since I already have the braded hose from Badger hooked up to my workbench air line. Luckily I discovered that Walthers (the model train company) carries Iwata accessories, so I was also able to order that part at my LHS. (My wife and I are on a no CC use campaign, which does make it tougher to order from online shops )

I am hoping to try it out this weekend, depending on family needs as my mom just got out of the hospital.

Wish me luck when i start terrorizing inocent plastic with the new paint shooter!
