I have had it for many years and lies under my bed as a perp-buster...

Looks to me like a common tourist version of the kukri.
I bought two kukris from the Nepalese Bn PX when I was in Lebanon in 1991 and the knife was almost identical but the sheet looks different.

The sheath didn't come up well under flash, but is a dark brown leather. Don't know if this is common to all these daggers, but when viewing the dagger along its length from the hilt, you can see the handle is actually a little offset to the blade; has a slight twist to it. The butt of the hilt appears to be brass. The top side of the blade length is as thick as 10mm towards the handle.
