Hi Brandon...

Welcome to Singapore's Armorama Forum!

Now back to your question. I haven't done a Merkava before. So I don't have pictures for you. But courtesy of IDF Modelling, check it out.

What kit is the Merkava?

Hi JM, the merkava mk3 is the academy kit. There is the Legends Mk 3D conversion kit. I am intending to start on one.

hello, welcome again...
i built this kit b4...its a nice kit, very big tank (i like!!)...i didnt have any fitting problem but the killer part for me though was the 'hanging ball-bearings' which was to be attach to the turret...
anyways, enjoy ur build and be sure to post some pics up when ur done...

Hi Brandon,

Didn't the Academy kit recommend a list of paints you can get for the Mk? Maybe you can share it with me (newbie to Modern Armor).

I don't have the paint list of Gunze but off my mind, say... Dark Yellow? Buff? There's so many colours to choose from. Seriously..!

Great! Tell us more about the Legends kit (where can you find that in Singapore?) when you start.

Hi JM,
The Academy kit does give a color guide, but dun think we have it here in S'pore. It's Sinai Grey from academy colors...

I found a color guide online for IDF armor. They use Tamiya colors to mix n match to get the correct color... I might be trying that out.. Wil let u guys know the outcome.

The Legends kit can be found at Miniature Hobby in Marina Sq.

Hey Gryphon,
What colors did u use for your merkava? Can post some pics? Thanks!!

Yup... that's why most of the pro modellers do. They tend not to stick to the colour guide provided. Instead, they mix the colours they think will looks more suitable. Give it a try and do post some results! Thanks.

Hi Brandon!

Welcome to our very own community here!

Well, as JM said it is best to try out the colours yourself. I'm still thinking of the colours for my Merkava and cos of that, it's put on hold!

Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay here!

post a few pics? i tink not my fren...mine's half done cause i lost interest in it...btw, if ur askin abt the color scheme, i used 2 different colors...sand yellow and the israeli tan...both paints by gunze...
u use the darker sand yellow to color the tank overall...then use the lighter israeli tan and make cloud pattern on the body itself avoiding the details cause u might want to bring out the details during the washing stage...the method im using is frm one of verlinden's modelling book...quite solid i must say...

anyways its a trial and error for my merkava... ...i hope the simple tip i just gave is good enough to help...

Hi, Brandon,

Welcome to Armorama: Singapore! For "Sinai Grey", I used a mixture of Tamiya's light grey and white. Ratio about 2:1. Hope this helps!

Cheers!

PS: I used them on my Academy M113. For your reference.
