Philip,
The softener is to make the decal soft when applying on the model kits.

Philip,
Yep, they are the same thing. By the way the Gunze also carries the decal setter too.

Are the functions of Mr Softner and the Gunze Decal Setter (setting solution ) the same?
How do you use these 2 products?
Sorry if i'm asking too much...
Planning to get one and would love to hear from you guys about them.

umustb,
You may use the setting solution on the surface where you will put the decal on.Then after you put the decal on, you may use the softener to make the decal softer in order to sit on some uneven surface.
Hope this help.

Hi Octupus.....I am confuse, do you still need to apply a layer of gloss to the area where the decal will sit if you chose to use the setting solution ?

Yes you still need to gloss the surface before appyling the decal. BTW, the softener is very effective especially if you are applying the decal on a zimmerited surface.
Cheers
