Over Christmas I managed to end my 2 month period of modelers block and I decided to complete this build which I have had sitting uncompleated for so long I have forgotten when I accually started it. I did have every intention of making a mold of the cab but decided in the end to do it as a one off model.
This was a labor of love as I owed one of these 20 years ago and was saddened to discover that the person that bought it off me left it to deteriorate. It is now unrestorable and is just a pile of very rusty metal.
I used the axles, springs and wheels as well as the winch out of the Tamiya Quad Gun Tractor kit the rest is all evergreen or brass strip and sheet.
There are lots more build progress pictures here... http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php?cat=14884
Any and all comments are welcomed.
The first photo shows the primed parts. It has been painted in major subsections and has just been loosely placed togeather for the photo.
this shows the chassis and front cab painted in desert colors. I mixed 2 parts Humbrol 121 'light stone' with 1 part humbrol Matt 'Brown Yellow' to darken it a bit. I will overspray this lightly with straight 121 'light stone' just before weathering it once it is complete.
A view from the front. I will add some lenses to the headlights that Grumpyoldman (Dave) sent to me for Christmas.
A side view. Doors have yet to be added and cab top, spare wheel/toolbox and rear deck are just in place and not fixed.
There is still a lot to do. I have to make the tailgate locks as well as make a tilt cover with rolled up sides so the load can be seen. I will put a few drums and boxes in but not cover the deck completely.
thanks for looking
Cheers

How did you make the side panels on the rear?
They are flat evergreen sheet scribed to look like boards on both sides. the support channels were made from brass strip with evergreen sides glued on and then Grandt Line nuts added.
cheers

Just keep it going Cliff. We all get 'block' at some time, part of the reason I've switched to figures. Good to see this is now well under way - looks great mate.
