Hi all,
I spotted this on the street yesterday morning.... was too good not to share... There were actually 2 parked out this pub (note the name of the pub ) - unfortunately I didn't get a shot with both in... the homeless people - there's a soup kitchen near by - thought it was absolutely hilarious that I was interested in 2 armoured vehicles and taking photos at 06.30 in the morning...

Mike,
They were there Wednesday and Thursday. Must have been some sort of promo for the opening of the pub or something...
The South African Army was using the 6x6 British Alvis Saracen APC for several years before the acquisition of spare parts become problematic due to the arms embargo, the South Africans decided to manufacture a new vehicle to satisfy their needs - namely the Ratel.

BTW...... Jim's absolutely right about the customers... it's a rather rough part of town... mostly bikers, contruction workers and sailors...

I don't care how many armoured vehicles I come across, the Saracen must be about the most "no nonsense", angry and aggressive looking of them all!
