Greetings All,

Just wanted to put the word out to anyone who might be interested in knowing about the OP back in '83, seems like both OUR MILITARY and the GENERAL PUBLIC remember VIETNAM, PANAMA, and THE GULF WAR, but have forgotten about the LITTLE ISLAND OF GRENADA back in the early morning hours of October 25, 1983.

I was a 22 y/o Infantry Team Leader (E-5) back then and I WAS THERE...

GOD BLESS CPT. Michael Ritz (CO) & SSG Gary Epps

I haven't forgotten. Too bad the Army didn't support the movie "Heartbreak Ridge". If they did, it would have been about a US Army scout platoon. History Channel has a decent hour long show about the invasion that is fairly informative to the masses.

Besides, this was one of the Gipper's first use of his ground forces. He was instrumental in re-establishing the US military as a viable fighting force. I always think of him fondly as "my" Commander-in-Chief. The History Channel special on him was well done and makes you sad to think his mind is gone.

Rob:
I haven't seen that show on History Channel. Is it part of the 20th Century or it's own show? Regular history channel or International?

Regular HC show, not quite as intense as the BHD one they did. Shows the spec ops guys calling in an airstrike with an AC-130 to defend the governor's quarters.

Just remember that Hollywood does not like a bad ending. Hollywood and history just do not mix very well. There are a times they almost got it right.
