Hi guy's !
Despite my stock of W.W.II book's, I'm really at a loss for some
good pic's of U.S. and German unit's in action at Aachen during the Fall of 1944
......I'm basically looking for authentic pic's of U.S. tank destroyer platoon's
( preferably M18's TD's ) supporting infantry, & slugging it out with some
panzergrenadier's and any panzer's, SP's, whatever !
- Any known where-about's of photo's similiar to this sort of action would be very helpful
and very much appreciated. It's needed for a diorama I have in the making, and
I generally prefer my dio's to portray actual battlefield events that took place in W.W.II

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

Heck, I keep getting an error on page message when I try to insert the link to a picture I found for you. I'll edit this post or post a second one...

Hi screamingeagle,

as I am from Aachen, itīs question of honour for me to help You.
Well, there is an excelent overview: Itīs a pdf-file concerning the step by step of the military strategy (including photos). This presentation "draws upon research into the battles for Germany’s westernmost city, Aachen, which took place during September and October,
1944. The historical focus is the attack into the city itself 13-20 October 1944
by 2d and 3d Battalions, 26th Infantry, 26th Regimental Combat Team, 1st
Infantry Division." Impossible to find better reference.

Greetings from Aachen

Hi Screamingeagle,

what a pitty ... Dou You know, that, 10 km from Aachen, in Huerttgenwald took place one of the bloodiest battles of WWII? There is an excellent side about that with lots of pics and good articles
http://www.hurtgen1944.homestead.com/Index.html

Iīll keep searching for You. Ah: If You come to good old Europe, a cold one is waiting in Aachen ...

Hola!

Very interesting! This shoulds just like my kind of action, late war, muddy/snowy harsh conditions! I just almost have to do a German figure vignette of this, some battle worn Germans in their muddy trench or fox hole!

What you think of that!!?

The campaign around Aachen in late 1944 is an often forgotten chapter in military history. For everyone who likes this suvbject for his dio-plans here are two good book references:

Hi Ralf - NOW THAT'S ONE HELL OF A GREAT WEBSITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
................THANK YOU. That will go right into my W.W.II research favorite's.
I'll look through some more tommorow - - - - I have to get to bed.
Yes, we really took a beating in that " hell hole "..... especially the 78th & 9th Infantry
Divisions. That website really has some great photo's too, but my mind
is really set on doing a a battle scene in the town of Aachen.
Anyhow, this is why I'm focusing on Aachen .............. like the Hurtgen Forest, there
was some fierce tank destroyer action with infantry support. I'm really into TD's - both U.S. & German. Ralf, are you allowed to go into the Hurtgen Forest and dig for W.W.II
souveiner's & battle relic's ?

Well, thanks again Ralf , you've been a great help & I appreciate that ........ and I'll offer that same beer to you if you ever should come to America.
