HELP UNABLE TO UPLOAD PHOTOS

First off I am a novice when it comes to bytes.I have been trying to upload photos to my gallery (.Again i am a novice when it comes to understanding bytes) As stated in my photo profile I have :
3,072 kb of allowed space
39 kb of space already used.
3,033.3 kb of space remaining .
If I have this amount of space left why won't it allow me to upload 4 photos. What am I doing wrong Please advise

There is a maximum upload file size for photos. How large are the photos you are trying to upload?
